Here we will celebrate our fantastic wonders of the week. You will find the name of our wonder of the week and the reason they have been chosen.
18.01.2019
Tilly - For her excellent progress and perseverance in Mathematics.

We will be having a strong focus on times tables in King-Smith class this year. The expectation in year 3 is that children will know 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x and 10x tables. In year 4 children are expected to know all times tables up to 12. We will be using 'Times Tables RockStars' this year to motivate us to increase our recall speed of the times tables. The children will be provided with a username and password to log on to the website but please ask if you would like this information.
Welcome to our Class Page!

Please check our class page regularly for updates of what we have been learning in class. You will also find out about our wonder of the week, copies of any letters sent out, home learning information. Check out our class gallery for lots of pictures and information about our learning. Daily updates will be posted on our class DOJO story.

Our Learning This Half Term:

‘Crime and Punishment’ will then be our topic for the second half term. By the end of the unit, children should be able to talk about and compare the punishments that were used during the Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Tudor and Victorian times and give some reasons for them. They should also be able to explain some key terms in the history of crime and punishment in Britain, use primary sources to decide what are facts, what opinions can be formed from the evidence, and identify the questions they have about the life of the highwayman Dick Turpin. We will also be comparing modern day crime and punishment with those from the past (linking to British Values) and talk about the legacy of past methods of crime prevention and detection with those of the present day.

In English, we will look at short stories based on crimes. We will focus on how to build tension in our writing. We will also be learning about writing from different perspectives.

For our mathematics learning, our lessons will be on statistics, properties of shapes, position and direction and mass and capacity.

Science this half term will be famous scientists and inventors including Marie Curie, Inge Lehmann and William Smith. We will review all of our science learning over the year. We will also research an invention and find out more about where and why it was invented.

Our art lessons will focus on the human body.

During this half term, our RE will continue regarding Pentecost and Mission before moving on to Judaism, Sikhism, Hinduism and Big Questions of Faith.
