Check out the our'Class Gallery' for pictures of what we have been up to!
Last Week - 08.01.2017
We have been looking closer at the story 'Traction Man' by describing the main character using adjectives and nouns. Then we wrote the story applying all our writing skills taking care to think carefully about our writing target.
In maths we have exploring fractions. We started the week by making 1/2s and 1/4s. Year 2 also looked at 1/3s, 2/4s, 3/4s and 2/3s. Then we started to find fractions of 2D and 3D shapes.
In RE this week we have taken a close look at Christmas.
We have learnt how to clean our teeth and will be brushing our teeth everyday after lunch from now on. Check out our class dojo page for pictures.
In PE we have been moving like toys, thinking carefully about how we use our bodies to convey meaning with accuracy.
Next Week-15.01.2018
Next week we will begin thinking about how we can change the Traction Man story by adding our own superhero toy! We have lots of good ideas already!
In maths we will begin to find fractions of amounts. We will begin by doing this with resources and then use drawings to calculate the answer.
In topic we will be comparing old and new toys. Thinking about how they are similar and how they have changed. We have noticed already that many modern toys are electrical.
In Science we will be naming the properties of common materials using accurate and specific terminology.
Our Outdoor Classroom
We are very lucky in Eric Carle Class to have our very own outdoor classroom attaches to our indoor classroom. We use this space to provide the children with continuous provision learning opportunities. The children can continue their learning from indoors independently in a lovely covered outdoor space. We have a garden, role play corner, building, making, writing, maths, reading and painting areas. The children access all of these areas independently. They find the resources they need and complete challenges and tasks left out by their teacher. The children love this area and enjoy showing us what they have achieved when they come back inside. See the photos below for some of the learning opportunities we have had so far.
