Home Learning

Please find the home learning grid for this half term along with the resources attached below.
The children are very proud of their home learning and enjoy sharing it with the class.
We will be having a strong focus on times tables in Dahl class this year. The expectation in year 3 is that children will know x2, x3, x4, x5, x8 and x10. In year 4 children are expected to know all times tables up to x12. We will be using 'Times Table Rockstars' this year to motivate us to increase our recall speed of ours times tables. The children will be provided with a username and password to log on to the website but please ask if you would like this information.
Welcome to our Class Page!

Please check our class page regularly for updates of what we have been learning in class. You will also find out about our wonder of the week, copies of any letters sent out, home learning information. Check out our class gallery for lots of pictures and information about our learning.

Our Learning This Half Term:

Our first half term is quite short but we have a lot of learning to squeeze in. Our topic is ‘All Around the World.’ We will look at the locations and habitats of animals, the North and South Pole, the Equator and lines of longitude and latitude. The science element of this will be animals including humans.

In English, we will be writing lost and found tales based on our example text which is aptly entitled ‘Lost and Found’. After this, we will be writing information texts to show our understanding of animal habitats. Our daily spelling sessions will continue using the Read, Write and Spell programme.

In reading, we will be looking at a range of books from different cultures. In spelling, we will focus on the use of prefixes to alter root words.

Mathematics will cover area and perimeter, money, discovering equivalence and reasoning with fractions. Art will link to our topic as we will be looking at sketching animals and locations. Our RE work will start with the Feast of Christmas followed by Epiphany and Revelation. We will have half an hour weekly French lessons.

Please find time to look at our story map for our focus text this term - Lost and Found. The children will be learning the text off my heart before innovating it using their own ideas.
