Your new Autumn Term homework booklets will be given out during week one. These booklets help to support your Reading,  SPAG, Maths and our topic based learning and will take you to the end of Term One.
We will mark these homework tasks in class each week, therefore each of you will need to bring in your homework book every Friday.

Please allow your child to have regular practise on TT Rockstars, Hit the Button and Literacy Planet. Reading every day is important too.
We will be having a strong focus on times tables in Carroll class this year. The expectation in year 5 is that children will know all of their times tables and the related division facts. We will be using 'Times Table Rockstars' this year to motivate us to increase our recall speed of ours times tables. The children will be provided with a username and password to log on to the website.

Our Learning This Term:

Our topic for this term will be World War II. We will be exploring the reasons why the war began, learning which countries were involved and looking into more detail at some key individuals involved. We will be describing what evacuation and rationing were and how this affected people. We will also be exploring how and why the changing role of women was significant to the war effort. We will  be explaining the Holocaust in detail and making links and comparisons to issues today.
